About The Event

Vibraphonist and composer Steve Shapiro has worked with Steely Dan, Ornette Coleman, Phil Collins, 

SpyroGyra, Whitney Houston, Roberta Flack, Regina Belle, Pat Martino, Curtis Fuller, Jimmy Heath, 

and They Might Be Giants. An accomplished producer/arranger, Steve’s work has also appeared in 

hundreds of television and film projects, including promotions for over forty Disney/Pixar feature 

film releases. He has developed a unique voice on vibes, and has released seven recordings as a 

leader. Industry journal MIX Magazine writes, "Steve Shapiro is a legitimate triple-threat 

musician."

Aaron Heick is a multi-reed player best known as a member of Paul Shaffer’s CBS Orchestra for the 

Late Show with David Letterman. He has worked with Chaka Khan, with whom he recorded and toured 

through most of the 1990s, Richard Bona, Barbra Streisand, Paul Simon, Sting, Aretha Franklin, 

Frank Sinatra, Bruce Springsteen, Sir Elton John, KJ Denhert, Donald Fagen, James Taylor, Lady 

Gaga, Lenny Kravitz, Sheryl Crow, Carly Simon, Billy Joel, and many others.

Bassist Tim Ferguson has been a highly regarded fixture on the New York scene for the last 20 

years, playing and touring with his own projects and as a side-man with a variety of acclaimed jazz 

artists, including Don Friedman, Cecil Bridgewater, Mel Lewis, Eddie Harris, Tony Scott, George 

Cables, Stefon Harris, Vanessa Rubin and the world famous Vanguard Jazz Orchestra. Also a prolific 

composer, his works have been performed in concert by a variety of ensembles throughout the U.S. 

and Europe. An active educator, Ferguson teaches privately as well as having taught for a number of 

New York area schools and institutions, and has performed clinics throughout the US and Europe. He 

is co-author of “The Total Jazz Bassist” and “The Bass Line Encyclopedia,” both published by 

Alfred.

Bill Dobrow is NYC drummer and percussionist who is a frequent performer on the downtown music 

scene. He has worked with Jesse Harris, Donald Fagen, Yoko Ono, Martha Wainwright, Rebecca Martin, 

and many others. For a short time, he was a member of the popular contemporary rock group The Black 

Crowes. He regularly leads an all-star band at NYC’s Roxy Hotel with players like Joe

Michael Blake, Tony Sherr and Brian Charette.
